Rise Above is proud to celebrate Year 2 of our partnership with the prestigious West Point Summer STEM Program—a transformative experience designed for bright, motivated youth passionate about science, technology, engineering, and math.
Last year, Teegan Herrera represented Rise Above at the high school-level STEM camp, accompanied by Ambassador Freddy Brown III. This year, we’re excited to announce that three of our middle school students who attend the Salish School of Spokane—Aryah, Isabella, and Seneca—were selected to attend the program!
This year’s camp was especially competitive, with only 120 middle school students selected from across the United States, representing 49 states. We’re incredibly proud that these outstanding students were chosen to represent our community on a national stage.
Before diving into a week of hands-on STEM activities at West Point, the girls kicked off their journey with an unforgettable weekend exploring New York City. For some, it was their very first time flying! Guided by Rise Above’s Statewide Program Director, Riley Holsinger, they experienced iconic landmarks like Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral—turning a dream into reality and memories to last a lifetime.
At West Point, the girls participated in hands-on workshops led by West Point cadets and faculty, diving into subjects like robotics, data analytics, chemistry, mechanical engineering, and more. They even built and raced their own gas-powered RC cars! Most importantly, they made new friends from across the country and shared experiences that sparked inspiration and confidence.
The week concluded with a graduation ceremony on Friday, where Riley was honored to attend and witness the students proudly receive their certificates—capping off a week of growth, exploration, and achievement.
We are so proud of these young leaders for rising above, embracing this incredible opportunity, and representing their communities with pride.
